10. My company is considering whether to open business with one or more countries in the former Soviet bloc but the information in the Guide is not helpful. Can you give any advice?
The Guide is not intended to give information of this kind but there are several organisations and publications you should consult. The BTI has disbanded its East Europe Trade Advisory Group, but market information can be found by contacting the individual country desks and through them the British posts in eastern Europe, or on the BTI website www.tradepartners.gov.uk. There are also commercial organisations promoting UK trade with eastern Europe and you can obtain useful material from companies which report on market and economic conditions and will undertake surveys related to your products and potential importers. One of these is Dun & Bradstreet Ltd., Holmers Farm Way, High Wycombe, Bucks. HP12 4UL, tel. 01494 422000, fax 01494 422260, website www.dnb.com.forward/uk. Their monthly publication International risk and payment review is an important aid to international market planning.
